I started preaching when I was 13 years old. My pastor would take me to nursing homes, juvenile detention centers, anywhere I could get reps. I even preached to empty rooms.
I wasn’t born a great communicator. I became one.
For more than 25 years, I’ve studied this craft. I’ve preached thousands of sermons all over the world. I’ve invested tens of thousands of dollars into coaches and becoming a better communicator. I’ve dedicated my life to mastering the art of preaching.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, things got even crazier. I became a husband and a father. I built a successful business. I got my doctorate. I became a bestselling author. I launched a top-10 Bible podcast. And now, my wife Tia and I get the privilege of pastoring The Garden in Houston, one of the fastest-growing new churches in America, to God be the glory.
Truth is, I couldn’t spend 20 hours writing every sermon even if I wanted to. 🤣
